Compassion = Awareness and Action
Compassion reminds us that we thrive together or not at all. When we stay aware and choose to act with care, we strengthen the fabric of community and nurture the interconnectedness of our world. Social Justice work has long been part of Unitarian Universalism. Many people are drawn to UU congregations because of our liberal voice in their community. Each congregation is free to choose how and where to focus their social justice energies.
Our Half-Plate Initiative
Here at Rutland UU, we recognize the tangible needs in our community and the many good organizations working hard to meet those needs. Each week, we donate half of the collection plate to local organizations working to make the Rutland area a more just, equitable, and livable place for all.
Justice in Action
In the past, we were deeply involved in the Health Care is a Human Right campaign and in refugee resettlement. As a small congregation, we are careful to identify the issues we most care about and can most deeply impact. We welcome newcomers and longtime members to work together to extend our collective voice to the issues facing our world.
